Pix downgrade from 5.3(1) to 5.2(5)

I need to downgrade pix 520 software from 5.3(1) to 5.2(5) and I need to know if I have to enter clear flash first.

From 5.3(1) documents I cannunderstand that I need to clear flash memory only for downgrade to 5.1 or earlier or when i have ipsec confs.

We have done the downgrade several times and have always cleared flash first.

You are correct. You don't need to use the clear flashfs for downgrades above 5.1.

The syntax is:

flashfs downgrade {4.x | 5.0 | 5.1}
