What is the PIX Order of Operations. This article:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/556/5.html
contains a table that seems to be describing the order in which
transactions are processed using Network Address Translation (NAT) for IOS. Is this the way it works in the PIX?
Is there a document describing the order of operations for packets traveling through the PIX from inside -> outside, outside -> inside, and within VPN tunnels?

A simple rule of thumb is whoever has the highest security level they will have a higher preference.
For example if simultaneously packet flows from DmZ to outside and Inside to outside, preference will be to Inside to outside since inside has the highest security level.

Hi John,
The order of operation is NOT exactly the same of IOS order of operation. There has been a very recent discussion on this forum, in which the order of operation was discussed in detail by Peter Comeaux from Cisco and me.
Please take a look at this discussion to see all about the order of operation at the following URL:
Kind Regards,
Leo
