When connecting through a PIX 515 on HTTP or Telnet I can see the connection get built although no traffic can pass, then 2 mins later the connection is torn down with a SYN timeout error, can anyone help
If you can see the connection being built its sounds like the config is ok. Check to see if the hits counters go up when you try to connect. If they do then it sounds like a problem with the box your trying to telnet onto, ie. default gateway or routing problem back to you device.
Your message description indicates that there is an Alteon in equation somewhere. I assume that you are doing some form of load balancing with your traffic flows.
It sounds as though you have an asymmetric traffic flow occurring and the syn that is being built is not associated with a returning syn/ack. You may want to trace the packet flow through the network to see if this is the case.
