PIX VPN Compatibility with other devices

I have given up on thinking that a Linksys VPN router can ever work with a PIX VPN. So what I would like to know is what devices are able to make a site to

site tunnel with a PIX. Is there any docs on this somewhere that would list

compatibility with a PIX?

Re: PIX VPN Compatibility with other devices

i don't think such list exists. in theory, pix supports industry standard ipsec vpn, thus any device supports the industry standard should be fine.

now, let's get back to the real world. i tried dlink/pix lan-lan vpn without any luck, and eventually i gave up. during that time, i've got the so-called dlink specialists involved, still no luck. also tried couple other brands from time to time, i guess it's just not feasible with the time spent on it.

anyhow, below is a list of cisco docs:

# Configuring an IPSec Tunnel - Cisco Secure PIX Firewall to Checkpoint 4.1 Firewall

# Configuring an IPSec Tunnel Between a Cisco Secure PIX Firewall and a Checkpoint NG Firewall

# Configuring IPSec Between a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and a Cisco Device

# Configuring IPSec LAN-to-LAN tunnel between the Cisco Pix Firewall and a NetScreen Firewall

i guess these devices will defintely work, as cisco obviously has tested it when creating the docs.

Re: PIX VPN Compatibility with other devices

I've also setup a site-to-site VPN with FreeSWAN and a PIX, (in other words, the PIX should be able to setup VPN's with many linux based Firewalls). That was using a pre-shared key.

Re: PIX VPN Compatibility with other devices

Did you get it working with a PIX V7 or V6?

We actually have the problem that we try StronSWAN against PIX V7.02.

It works until "Connection landed on tunnel group ..."

Then we get an error "Client is using an unsupported Transaction Mode v2 version. Tunnel terminated."

With PIX V6.3.4 it works fine.
