PIX vs Router Based VPN

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using routers or PIX as the end points for site to site VPN. We are planning to setup 30 - 40 site to site vpns between our hub site and remotes.

The cost of implementing a router based VPN appears higher tha using a PIX 501 at remote sites.

What are the technical differences between the solutions?

Re: PIX vs Router Based VPN

If the spokes have to communicate to each other, you need to use routers.

The pix does not do vpn redirect when terminating on the same interface. If you want to use the pix, you need to have the spokes terminated on different interfaces, or you can do full mesh.
