PIX with DIAL-UP Routers.

Hi,

I'm new to firewalls, so this may seem like a stupid question.

What is the necessity to install a PIX firewall behind a dial-up ADSL router (to the internet) on a LAN.

If the router is going to get a different IP everytime it connects, does it make sense.

Last of all, is this sort of configuration possible, or I'm I in for a lot of trouble?

It's for a client, and they are insisting on it.

Thanks in advance.

Clement

In ADSL situation the pix would be the cpe so it would get the public address. The 501/506 can act as a PPPOE client so is ideal in these situations. For dialup you would have to configure the Natting on the router since that is the device receiving the public address. If the ip address changes on the router you can always nat specifying interface.
