pix501 static port redirection

Hi!

I've really made some efforts in making this work but without any success.

What i'm trying to do is a port redirection on tcp 4899. I've searched forums, read articles and the manual but this really wont work.

Topology: ISP - DSL-modem - pix - lan

Here's the config which from my pov is working the "best".

Here's a log of what's happening when i try to initiate a connection.

609001: Built local-host inside:192.168.29.4

305011: Built static TCP translation from inside:192.168.29.4/4899 to outside:xx.xx.xx.245/4899

302013: Built inbound TCP connection 582 for outside:yy.yy.yy.51/3289 (yy.yy.yy.51/3289) to inside:192.168.29.4/4899 (xx.xx.xx.245/4899)

302014: Teardown TCP connection 582 for outside:yy.yy.yy.51/3289 to inside:192.168.29.4/4899 duration 0:02:01 bytes 0 SYN Timeout

305012: Teardown static TCP translation from inside:192.168.29.4/4899 to outside:xx.xx.xx.245/4899 duration 0:02:15

And imo this looks like it should? But there are no dataflow.

Thanks! Peter

Re: pix501 static port redirection

are you sure the service is running on 192.168.29.4? "bytes 0 SYN Timeout " makes it seem like no reply was sent from the inside.

after adding the static statement, did you do a clear xlate or reboot the pix to reinitialize the translation slot table? (clear xlate is preferred, but naturally a reboot will wipe clean the table)

Re: pix501 static port redirection

Yes i'm possitive the service is running. Haven't tested clear xlate but it's been rebooted for sure.

Re: pix501 static port redirection

Thanks for your directions Matt!

I came up with this to be a problem with the inside host. The inside host was a not configured w2k clusteredserver in a labenvironment (2 nic's). The service was remote administrator. Haven't tested any other service portmapping to a 2nic host though.
