Yes. ASDM is the replacement for PDM in code ver 7.

Re: PIX515e and ASDM

Hello Gary,

Yes, depending on the IOS version, you will have to have the compatible ASDM version running on your PIX,

IOS --- ASDM

7.0 --- 5.0

7.1 --- 5.1

7.2 --- 5.2

There is not compatibilty issue between different releases, however it always recommended to have the latest release for each IOS and ASDM...

Moreover, once you load ASDM on your PIX, you need to activate it through the following commands:

asdm image flash:/asdm501.bin

where asdm501.bin is an example of an ASDM file you have loaded to your pix

you also need to enable HTTPS server on the device through the following command:

http server enable

you also need to specify the hosts (IP's) who are allowed to https into the device, using the following command:

http 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.255 inside

where IP address 10.1.1.1 is a host that can access ASDM and which is connected via the inside interface. You can also allow an entire subnet to access it - your choice!

Now you can verify the connection by typeing in your browser the following:

https://10.1.1.254

or

https://10.1.1.254/admin/

where 10.1.1.254 is the IP on the inside interface - I believe in your case it will be different...

I hope this is useful, please rate if it is...

Thanks and regards,

Osama
