Hello,
When chatting with a Cisco employee at a party a couple weeks ago, he mentioned that PIXOS 6.3 (supposedly) does transparent bridging. This would be greatly beneficial in that you could firewall a network without your device having to have an IP address. There are also other specific situations I could think of in which this would be beneficial. My question is -- is this possible yet? If not possible yet, is it something planned for?
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
Currently, it is not possible to configure the PIX as a transparent firewall. However, this is a feature we are looking at now. Release 2.1 of the Firewall Services Module will have this feature but so far, there has been no committment from the appliance team.

Scott,
Thanks. If it's possible to let them know we are interested (we buy about 50 devices a year from ya'll), please do so. That feature would help us innumerably, especially if shunning could be performed along with the bridging.
Thanks again,
Ben
