POP3 Mail through PIX

PIX 501, 6.3(4). Trying to allow client on inside using Outlook Express to ISP Mail server. I believe Outlook Express uses SMTP to send mail and POP3 to retrieve it. Wondering what sort of config is required as I am not sure if server or client initiates emails down to client.

Any help much appreciated

both send/receive operations are initiated from the client pc, i.e. the host with outlook express installed.

so, as long as the client pc has access to the internet, and the ports are permitted on smtp and pop3, there should not be any drama.

post your config if further assistance is needed.

Hi

You need to have fixup protocol smtp 25 on the config for allowing the smtp connections.

I assume that your nat statements to access the outside network is already there in palce..

still i would suggest to check this link for more info on the same..
