We are trying to send traps from specific ports on a 6509 to an SNMP management platform. However the management platform identifies the ports by the ifindex value. The switch is running CatOS version 5.5(3). I understand that if the switch is rebooted the ifindex values are likely to change. Is there anyway to get over this problem. I have found that with IOS after a certain version you can make the ifindex values permanently map the port values. Is there an equivalent for CatOS ?
CatOS does not have any such command like in IOS for ifIndex persistane. I believe that in CATOS, we always keep the ifIndex persistence for all the physical ports, VLANs interfaces after switch reloads, except for FEC/GEC.
