I would like to use private vlans on our 6500s for several hosts on a small subnet (/29). This switch already has multiple vlans, none of which are private. In the documentation it says that I will designate a pvlan as "primary" and another one as "isolated". My question is simply this, will designating a pvlan as primary knock anything out in the switch? I can't mess up any vlans on this switch as it is already live. Thanx for any help.
You are highly advised to create seperate VLANs, especially if you are venturing into PVLANs for the first time. As long as you stay within the newly created VLANs (or VLANs not in use) you will be fine.
