Public Filter and DNS

Hello

I haev a 3015 and when I use the public default filter on the public interface, remote users are not able to resolve DNS, thus not able to use the internet.

I haev tested this and without the filter I can browse any web page.

With the filter I can not browse web pages UNLESS I specify the IP address in the browser.

This is not ideal and was wondering if anyone had an answer. I haev seen things about cleaning the dnscache but it doesn't seem to work for me.

thanks

Bryn

Re: Public Filter and DNS

Verify that the concentrator has a route pointing to the network where the DNS server resides. Without it, the public filter does not allow DNS traffic and the DNS packet wil be dropped. If all is in order but still not working, try this. Create a new filter, identical to the public (default) filter and apply it to the public interface. This worked for me and hopefully, it'll work for you too. You should also have a look at CSCdt78452.
