Purpose of Ethernet #3 of VPN 3000 Series

Hi all,

I wonder what is the purpose of Ethernet #3 on VPN 3015 above ?

The document says it is a DMZ interface. I understand that a firewall appliance may have a DMZ interfaces, but VPN appliance ?

What solutions can we offer to utilisize this Ethernet #3 of VPN 3000 series ?

You could think of it as another inside interface, thus you could use it to connect to another (separate) inside network subnet, ie one that is not connect to the current inside subnet.

Thanks. If it is for another inside network, I think Cisco should not label it as "External" interface. This would confuse some of us, as if it is not a good thing to connect an inside network to an interface named "External" , when designing a network.
