Question on des and 3des

Hi

I have a confusion regarding use of des over 3des.

My cisco vpn clients connect to a concentrator and would like to save on badwidth

I know that switching from 3des to des wont help in saving bandwidth as the actual packet size remains same, only I save on throughput, is that right?

Any other option to save bandwith?

what is the book defination of bandwidth and throughput?

Your help is highly appreciated

Thanks

Atul.

Re: Question on des and 3des

3des vs des will have no impact on bandwidth.

3000 concentrators support ip compression before encryption. Have you enabled that?

Bandwidth is the amount of data you can pass at any one time. Throughput is the real world results - how much data actually gets through, as opposed to the theoretical bandwidth of the circuit
