"ping inside" command... what is it?

I would like to know what it means when "ping inside <IP Address>" means.

Does this mean I can only ping inside hosts, or does this mean that I can ping FROM the inside interface to an outside host.

If the latter is the case, and I cannot get a reply from the remote host, is this a good thing?

Stakano,

"ping inside" is meant for pinging the inside network, and the ping is sent towards the inside network.. The Ping cannot be sourced from the Inside Address and sent to the outside network...

That is exactly what I had thought.

Thanks.
