Redundant VPN Link

Hello,

I have 2 sites with PIX 515's. On both sites I have 2 internet uplinks from different providers (and different ip ranges) connected to the PIX. I want to connect the two sites using a VPN but I want some form of redundancy using the 2 internet uplinks. So if the first internet uplink fails, VPN's will have to be build over the second internet uplink.

Can I do this with the Cisco PIX software? If I use 2 crypto maps with different sequence numbers and different peer numbers, will the PIX fail on the first crypto map if this link failed and will it use the second?

Any other good ideas are welcome also.

Regards, Frank Embsen

Re: Redundant VPN Link

Frank,

Some questions?

How is routing done, staticly? dynamicly using OSPF to provider routers? Are the PIX 515 at a location failover bundles (otherwise, what is the use of eliminating a single point of failure while others still exist)

IMHO it should be possible to think of a solution, but I´m also pretty sure that we need to know more about how routing takes place. So please, explain your setup in more detail, and we can see if we can help you out.

Kind regards,

Leo
