Reloading a security context in FWSM

Hi,

I have a FWSM 3.1. I want to reload a particular context. Two options:

1) Reloading by clearing the configuration

2) Reloading by removing and readding the context

Which is the best option?

Thanks!

Re: Reloading a security context in FWSM

Hi,

I guess the answer to your question is "It depends". As stated in the config guide,

The 1st option "clears most attributes associated with the context, such as connections and NAT tables". The 2nd option removes the context from the system configuration. However, "this action clears additional attributes, such as memory allocation, which might be useful for troubleshooting. However, to add the context back to the system requires you to respecify the URL and interfaces."

More info on the 2 options, just in case :

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/mod_icn/fwsm/fwsm_3_1/fwsm_cfg/contxt_f.htm#wp1126933

My 2 cents.
