restrict internet access in a network

Hello,

I will ristrict the internet access of our Workers.

I need a tool or hardware (firewall, router, ...) to make the following points possible:

- restrict the access to internetsites with contens like sex, drugs, ...

- block the internet access for some users of our network (maybe over the ip-address of the PC). We have a windows 2000 server with windows 2000 clients.

I don't want to make this settings on the PC or Server. I will make it with a other box.

Do you now any products that make this points possible.

Thanks

Peer

Re: restrict internet access in a network

Hi Peer,

you can do it with many tools or boxes.

To restrict Web access based on the contents, use a PIX firewall with a Websense Server. PIX forwards all WEB requests to Websense Server. If the request is ok, websense allows the request on the PIX.

To restrict the Web access based on the user information use a PIX firewall with Cisco ACS-Server. Allow surfing anly via Proxy, which can do both eventually.

Many other possibilities could follow.

Regards Norbert
