Routing Protocol over a VPN

I have a VPN Tunnel between a Cisco 7200 Router and Netscreen Firewall. I have a requirement to run dynamic routing protocol over the VPN. Netscreen has support for OSPF and BGP.

is it possible to run such a dynamic routing protocol between Cisco and Netscreen boxes. does any one had a similar experience in the past.

Re: Routing Protocol over a VPN

Hi there,

IPSec tunnel does not give you the flexibility to send Multicast traffic over it, which is used by most of the routing protocols. BGP on the other hand is somewhat unique. It uses a TCP connection to send the routing protocol updates etc. So I don't see a problem in using BGP

I use the GRE tunnelling and have EIGRP working fine. The artical you are looking for is http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/707/gre_ipsec_ospf.html.
