RSA Key-pair's : expiration

Is there an expiration for RSA key-pairs generated on Cisco IOS routers ? and on what input is the key-pair based e.g. is there something used from the configuration file ?

I experienced a situation where I had to re-create a key-pair to establish the IPSec connection again.

Check to see if there is a bug on your IOS version. Cisco’s support people can direct you to the right IOS to use.
