Hello all:

Is there a way to make a transfer of all the current config of a PIX 506E w/o using a tftp server?

Thanks,

John

SNMP will allow you to do this or - at the risk of stating the obvious - you could do a show run and then copy paste into a text editor.

You could also use the bowser if the http service is running ! Using the username password as you do for the PDM.

Create a session for your PIX CLI using Hyperterminal in Windows. In the Hyperterminal window:- Transfer -> Capture Text. Now give the name & location of the text file where you want to store your PIX config.

pix> pager lines 0

pix> sh run

Now in the Hyperterminal window:- Transfer -> Capture Text -> Stop

You should now have your entire PIX config in a text file.

Will this allow me to transfer the file back in to bring these setting back in?

The reason I ask is I am trying to setup a new router to talk with the PIX and need to start from scratch, but if something goes wrong would like to make sure I can get the current config back in a timely manner.

Thanks.
