Securing internet switch

Hi,

I have deployed 2 new Cisco 3750 switches on the internet. Now my aim is to monitor our 2 ISP internet pipes but I require SNMP ro/rw strings applied onto the switches. I am a bit dubious about putting SNMP strings on the switches since they are within the "dirty" network and would enhance a security threat. Any suggestions on how to protect my switches if I were to use SNMP strings? My monitoring software is MRTG and requires SNMP strings to work.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers

Re: Securing internet switch

You could limit the snmp host via an access list. Also, if MRTG can work with "RO" you should only allow "RO" access.
