Signature pack upgrade on CSIDS 4.x

My question is related to the "upgrade" command on CSIDS ver 4.0, service pack 2 sensors.

When I issue the "upgrade" command on the sensor for upgrading to a new service pack level or only to a new signature release level, are the settings made to the existing signatures retained? By settings, I mean modifications to the severity level, action field, regex values, etc.

I'm concerned that issuing the "upgrade" command will upgrade the sensor to the new level with the default settings. If this is the case, then all our work goes down the drain. Please help.

Re: Signature pack upgrade on CSIDS 4.x

Hi,

Here's the explanation of the 4.x commands.

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/csids/csids9/cmdref/15285ch2.htm#258181

Use the upgrade command to apply a service pack, signature update or image upgrade.

Yes, settings made to the existing signatures are retained.

Thanks,

yatin
