Site to Site VPN with Dynamic ISP IP ?

I am about to setup a site to site VPN between a 515e PIX and a 506e Pix. One of the locations has a dynamically supplied IP Address. Can this provide a reliable option or should I replace the internet connection that has dynamic IP address service to one with that can provide static IP ?

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Hi

If you mean by reliable will it work properly then yes it should be fine. The main issue with using dynamic IP addresses is that you have to configure an iskamp key with the 0.0.0.0 address as you have no idea what the IP address will be.

So your security reliance on your key becomes even more important so make sure you use a good key.

Configure the 515 as an ezvpn server, and set up the 506 as a vpnclient.

We need to know what OS is on the 515 to further guide you.

(this assumes the 506 is the dynamically assigned IP address)
