Slow throughput on 6M connection

We have a 3000 series concentrator with a 6M pipe that is connected to a site in Atlanta as a DR recovery site.

There are file uploads to the Atlanta site every day.

We are getting horrible file transfer times 500 K or so.

Is this the best the public Internet can do?

The other site also has 5M connection incoming.

Isther anything to check bandwidth?

Do you have a dedicated link between sites or does this VPN tunnel through the Internet. Where is the site that is sending the updates to Atlanta located? If this is routed throught the Internet I would jump for joy with 500K file transfers. Some of the faster transfer times I get are around 200 - 300 K.
