I have a customer, that is modifying Powerpoint presentations on his work computer. He is accessing this through High Speed internet service from him his home via VPN. On our LAN, it takes 30 seconds to call it up and 2 minutes to save it (we are using 100 MB connection). At home or on our Road Runner (high speed) connection, it takes 1 minute to call it up and by the time I had cancelled it, it was over 11 minutes of saving. This is a 30 MB file and should not take that long. I appreciate your help.

I suppose I should add that I have lowered MTUs from default to 1300.

As a test, have you tried disabling antivirus on either the end-user station and/or the server (or system that is storing the presentation)? I've seen antivirus cause drastic slowdowns, especially when connecting over [relatively] slower connections.
