Software upgrade on PIX515

We had previously upgraded our PIX from version 6.3 to 7.2 and was successful in doing so. Recently we tried to upgrade from version 7.2 to 7.4 but the PIX still shows 7.2 after the upgrade steps have been performed. Appreciate any advise. Thanks.

Re: Software upgrade on PIX515

First, do a "sho flash" to assure the image has been uploaded. (default is "image.bin" unless you specified another name during the upgrade)

Then, look in the configuration for the line: "boot system flash:xxxxxxx". The xxxxxx is the image that will be loaded and run. If your flash is large enough, there could be multiple images, so be sure this line references your new code.

Re: Software upgrade on PIX515

I have checked and found that the image.bin was created in September; I guess it was created when we performed the upgrade from 6.3 to 7.2 previously. How do we flush that out? Thanks.

Re: Software upgrade on PIX515

If you have enough space in the flash, you should be able to FTP the new image up. Give it a different name (such as image1.bin, or PIX704.bin), and change the configuration line to match. If you use the same name as the original (image.bin), it SHOULD overwrite the old image (or erase it? not sure which). Did you have issues with the upload of the upgrade image? If it did not load completely, it would keep the old image.
