SSH configuration-1700 router

Help please!

i am trying to implement use of SSH to replace telnet for remote router login.

i am testing on 1700 series (IOSv12.3)

presumably each router will need to be set up as SSh server

i have config. hostname, ip domain-name, and tried to generate key ((config)#cry key generate rsa) , but IOS will not recognise this command.

does version 12.3 (1a) support SSH?

do i need to enable SSH first?

di i need to configure some form of authentication first?

thanks in anticipation

Re: SSH configuration-1700 router

Gary,

You need a feature set that supports encryption. For ths version you are running, you can use either

c1710-k9o3sy-mz.12.3-1a or c1710-bk9no3r2sy-mz.12.3-1a

Hope this helps,
