Hi,

I have enabled ssh ver 1 at my router and when I issue the command "sh ip ssh" the output obtained is:

SSH Enabled - version 1.5

Authentication timeout: 20 secs; Authentication retries: 5

I'm using 'putty' now to access router. Its asking for login as & password. My understanding is that password is the one that I have set on vty lines, isn't? what should I use in login as? If anyone can please help? Thanks.

Did you configure the following on your VTY lines: transport input ssh

You can also verify your config with the sample here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk583/tk617/technologies_tech_note09186a00800949e2.shtml

Hope this helps.

Syed,

It really depends upon what kind of authentication is configured under line vty for Login.

If you have AAA configured, then you need to use the Username/Password on the AAA Server.

Is there anyway, you could post any AAA and line vty configuration. Make sure that remove all sensitive (passwords, etc) information before you post the configuration.

I hope it helps.

Regards,

Arul

Thanks a lot. It helped. I used "transport input ssh" & "login local" on my vty lines.
