Switch stacking and SPAN port

Two Catalyst 3548XL switches are in stack. I need to monitor a port as SPAN port, to put an IDS sensor. I wonder if i can put only one SPAN port to analyze ALL the traffic passing through the 2 switches or i nedd 2 SPAN ports, one for each switch. And what about RSPAN?

Thank u

Re: Switch stacking and SPAN port

My understanding is when you are clustering switches, you are basically extending the backbone(ie., all ports are in the same VLAN) so by configuring SPAN on one port in a switch cluster, you should be able to monitor traffic in both switches.
