sysopt route dnat

Hi

I do not completely understand the functionalityu of the command "sysopt route dnat" on the PIX.

Could someone explain this for me please!!!

Hi Stephen,

Here's the explanation of cmd 'sysopt route dnat' :

"The sysopt route dnat command specifies that when an incoming packet does a route lookup, the incoming interface is used to determine which interface the packet should go to, and which is the next hop."

Hi Thanks for the reply. I had previously read that explanaition but did not fully understand it.

Perhaps I'm being a bit dense but I'd imagine that when a packet arrives on an iterface of a PIX it would be forwarded based on the routes configured on the pix. How would the incoming interface be used to determine which interface the packet should go to. Surely the destination address of the incoming packet is referenced and then the packet is sent out of an appropriate interface based on the configured routes.
