Telnet problems via a PIX VPN

We have a VPN between a PIX 506e and a Nokia IP380 running Checkpoint NGX. Instead of the PIX we used to have a Nokia IP71 (until it died). One of the main applications over the VPN is a telnet session to DEC Alpha. With the IP71 we never had any problems but, with the PIX, the session times out when idle. As this is a warehouse, the terminal may be left idle for up to 30 minutes and this time out is a bit of a problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Telnet problems via a PIX VPN

Ian,

You could enable isakmp keepalive on you pix i.e.

isakmp keepalive 300 10

For further explanation on isakmp keepalive please read the following document:

Hope this helps and please rate post if it does.

Jay
