testing ASA - is it safe to connect it to DMZ?

I have a new ASA and while configuring it would be so much easier if it had an internet connection.

if I hook it to my DMZ using a non-used real IP for the outside interface and connecting a PC to the inside interface, can it work or should I expect it to break my internet connection?

(my Verizon routers and my current firewall connect to an 8 port switch that spare a port for the ASA)

If the ASA has a public IP, yes.

Hi,

Yes, ASA is non-intrusive.

If you connected to a DMZ, your normal traffic will not be affected. The only traffic affected will be the one that is routed towards the IP of the ASA.

For ASA configuration you can use the below guides:

thanks.

to make sure, traffic coming out of ASA will also return - as in web pages, VPN connections etc?
