We are configuring a site to site VPN Between a cisco ASA and a watchguard firewall. The issue is the Watchguard firewall using only 3DES-CBC or DES-CBC, Does the cisco ASA or pix support this? and are they any different from the 3DES?

I really need explain to the customer who is totally as lose as i am

Thank you folks!

Hi DES has two modes ECB mode (Electronic CodeBook)and CBC mode (Cipher Block Chaining)

- Cisco IPSEC uses DES CBC mode - so if you configure 3DES or DES on Cisco you configured 3DES-CBC or DES-CBC - so it should works with watchguard. In other words there is no difference between DES-CBC and DES in this issue

Hope that helps, rate if it does
