Time for route withdrawal upon VPN session failure

How long does it take with withdraw routes that were installed as a result of a failed Easy VPN client session to a 3000 series concentrator? Is it advisable to use this route loss to trigger dial backup? This is being contemplated for a 1700 series router, if that makes a difference.
