Unable to BREAK/ESC to enter Monitor Mode on PIX 520

Hello All,

I am trying to upgrade to PIX704.bin... I tried Copy TFTP FLASH and it fails with insufficient space. So when I try to reload, I am never prompted for the BREAK/ESC command. Here's the Output:

Rebooting....

Cisco Secure PIX Firewall BIOS (3.6)

Booting Floppy

Flash=i28F640J5 @ 0x300

Reading 1962496 bytes of image from flash.

################################################################################

384MB RAM

mcwa i82559 Ethernet at irq 11 MAC: 00d0.b78f.2ee8

mcwa i82559 Ethernet at irq 10 MAC: 00d0.b78f.2b56

Flash=i28F640J5 @ 0x300

BIOS Flash=AT29C257 @ 0xfffd8000

Is it possible that the BIOS is too old? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

Re: Unable to BREAK/ESC to enter Monitor Mode on PIX 520

Glad it helps. On the 520 you use a boot disk not the break sequence. Typically you would use the tftp command to load newer versions of Firewall OS anyway. You can see the following link for additional information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve for the quick response. What would cause this unit not to allow the BREAK/ESC sequence during reloads? That seems pretty basic...
