I can't uninstall VPN 5.0.01.0600 from Vista. It gives to me error 28000.

There is no link in Add/Remove. Thanks

Re: uninstall VPN from Vista. error 28000

You need to go into regedit.exe and do a search on "vpn" under the

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Now you need to start deleting things that look like

they go with the VPN Client. The logical part of doing this was the

instructions that you already followed. Now we are into the illogical

uninstall steps.

SAVE THE REGISTRY FIRST AND CREATE A BACKUP START DISK.

Here are the basic rules:

1) If it says Cisco and looks like there's only Cisco stuff in the

folder, delete the folder. Search the registry for the following items:

Cisco

CVPND

CVPNDRA

Ipsecdialer

Vpngui

Vpnapi

Under "Components" or "Uninstall" folders, delete the randomly named

folder entirely if it has Cisco in it.

2) If it says Microsoft or RAS, don't delete it. Don't delete any

folders under "Network".

3) If the file or folder won't delete, don't worry about it. LEGACY

items won't delete.

Now this sounds barbaric but the problem is that since every machine has different patches, applications, and drivers installed, we don't know where the installer put all of the VPN Client links. So we have to search them out. Normally the link they followed hits enough to allow an upgrade. In some cases it doesn't.
