I have found a IP address on a scan that is out of my DHCP range and the subnet mask. There are only a router and a single computer on this network, yet I am getting three address on the scan. Where is this address coming from, any ideas?

Hi King,

Seems odd, as if you are physically at the same location then you can just verify if there are any additional ports in the switch/hub? also see using the "show arp" if you see any MAC address associated with that address, maybe one of the two devices which are attached directly is Proxy-ARPing for that address.

hope this helps,

Regards,

Aamir

Possibly a multi-homed workstation or server... the other nic may not be plugged in... but is being picked up on the scan via the other nic...
