Unreliable connection to Unix server

We have several users connecting successfully to the VPN with a Cisco client (version 4.8.01.0300) and Windows XP. However, one of the applications they have to connect to runs on a Unix server. Some of the users get a socket error when they try to connect to it, and are unable to ping it. Problem is, it's not every user, and it doesn't happen every time to those users who are experiencing problems.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Can you do port monitoring of the UNIX server connection in the switch? Use WireShark start the capture and ask a user to connect (hopefully they will get an error).

Also do a TCPDUMP in the UNIX server and monitor the UNIX network port connects to switch and the IP Address of the user.

Post all the result here.

regards,

Dandy
