Update Network IDS Signatures in IDS MC 1.1

Hi all,

I'm unable to update the network IDS signatures via IDS MC 1.1. Currently I can only do it by accessing the individual 42xx appliances and upgrading the signature manually (just did the S57 signature). If i try it via MC, via Updates->Update Network IDS Signatures, it gives me the following Error:

Object update failed. The update package provided appears to be corrupt, or permission was denied for reading the file. Pls verify the update package contents and retry the operation.

I've checked the signature file IDS-sig-4.1-1-S57.rpm.pkg permission (admin & casusers full permission, everyone read/execute-access). Previous signature files failed as well. Pretty sure they are not corrupted, since I managed to console upgrade one of the IDS.

Any suggestion is most welcomed!

thanks,

woon

Re: Update Network IDS Signatures in IDS MC 1.1

Hi Woon,

You need to download and use the .zip file from this link

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/mgmt-ctr-ids-ids4updates

You only need to use the .zip format update while updating from IDSMC. While updating directly on the sensor, you need to use the .rpm.pkg file(s)

Thanks

Nadeem
