Just purchased a MARS 100 box and it was shipped with version 3.X. Is it true that you have to do your upgrades sequentially? Also, does anyone have links to this or any other good MARS references.
Thanks!

As stated in CS-MARS upgrade option (release notes), when upgrading from one software version to another, a prerequisite version is always required. This prerequisite version is the minimum level required to be running on the appliance before you can upgrade to the most recent version.
Upgrade path from 3.x to 4.x:

*also read Upgrade Instruction

You can perform the upgrade from web-based or CLI:

HTH. Pls rate all useful post(s).

In your case since this is a new install it's better to install an ISO version of the latest version of the software. The upgrade from 3.x to 4.x can take hours because you do have to perform the upgrades sequentially.
Take a look at the Recovery Images on CCO for MARS and install 4.22. I find it easiest to burn the image to DVD and upgrade in this manner, rather than via FTP.
Hope my experience helps.
