I have the .bin file for 6.3(2) on my tftp server. I need instructions to upgrade my pix from 6.2(2) to 6.3. Please let me know the commands to back up my existing configuration and upgrade to newer version.

backup your old version first with :

write net []:

Pull the new one in with :

copy tftp[:[[//location][/pathname]]] flash[:[image | pdm]]

I am getting the following error message.

Pix-Admin1(config)# write net 204.142.253.86:622

Building configuration...

TFTP write '622' at 204.142.253.86 on interface 1

Timed out attempting to connect

[FAILED]

What do you think is wrong? I am using solarwind tftp server.

When that has happened to me the tftp server wasn't running or I lacked port connectivity to the tftp server. I did see it have a problem with the file name once as well.

I got around it by specifying a tftp server and path in the pix config.

If you are in Windows, try restarting your tftp server.

I am getting the following error message.

Pix-Admin1(config)# write net 204.142.253.86:622

Building configuration...

TFTP write '622' at 204.142.253.86 on interface 1

Timed out attempting to connect

[FAILED]

Try creating a file in the TFTP root directory called '622'. Some TFTP servers require that a 0 byte file exist before writing to it. Hope this helps.

Is your tftp server on the inside or outside interface? If it's on the outside, you will have to specify it using the 'tftp-server' command, eg:

tftp-server outside 204.142.253.86 /

Hope that helps...

Hi...

Perhaps to save you a second upgrade, I believe 6.3(2) has been deffered with 6.3(3) the preferred image.
