URL FIltering with PIX FIrewall

Will the PIX 506 Firewall allow me to block URL's or IP address. I am trying to prevent unnecessary downloads.

for URL filtering you need a thrid party product that works together with the PIX firwall, such a Websense.

Can I block the IP address or will I still need the third party software.

You cannot block IPs based on URL filtering, you need a 3rd party software as mentioned above. URL filtering purely sends proxies the request to the 3rd party software and upon the reply from the filtering_server, we will either permit/deny the packet.
