Use of statics on PIX

I have a small confusion : can I statically map a global IP to whole network inside?

No. statics either statically map one port to one port, or one ip to one ip - it is always a one to one ratio

However I have used mappings to network like

static(inside,outside) 10.0.0.0 10.0.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0

and it is not one to one,
