apparently I have a global range defined on my outside interface, suggestion is to use a pat statement to replace this. looking for guidance

All you have to do is defining 1 single IP entry or the interface itself in the following section
global (outside) x ipaddresshere or
global (outside) x interface

so basicaly a
global (outside) id ousideip.2-outsideip.7 netmask x.x.x.x can be replaced with
global (outside) id outsideip.2

Exactly. If it fails, try
global (outside) id outsideip.2 netmask 255.255.255.255

for Example
nat (inside) 1 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0
global (outside) 1 "outside Ip"
