Hi

I have created a local user ABC on Cisco router with privilege 6 but when I login using ABC and apply enable command then I am able to run any command so my question is

Is the “enable” command after login using user ABC with privilege leve 6  equivalent to level 15 privilege?

username ABC privilege 6 password 0 cisco

SW3#telnet 10.10.10.100
Trying 10.10.10.100 ... Open

User Access Verification

Username: ABC
Password:
SW2#

SW2#enable
Password: xxxxxxxx

SW2#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
SW2(config)#

Please advise

Can you post:

1. The output of "show privilege" after you enter the enable secret

2. Post the full device config

yeah I also have this problem... i seem to be able to create multiple user accounts but they all seem to use the same enable secret... which of course has a privilege level of 15...

I need to prevent a certain user from getting into config mode...

any ideas anybody?

Thanks

Please post your configs here.

I can't because the config is in use on a live switch...
