Using the telnet command with object-groups

I am upgrading a production PIX to 6.2(2) and will be converting the configuration to use names and object-groups.

The documentation regarding object-groups discusses their use in ACLs, I'm wondering if they may also be used in the telnet command.

Example old config:

telnet 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 inside

telnet 172.16.35.22 255.255.255.255 inside

telnet 172.16.35.23 255.255.255.255 inside

telnet 172.23.16.138 255.255.255.255 inside

telnet 172.23.16.141 255.255.255.255 inside

telnet 172.23.20.100 255.255.255.255 inside

telnet 172.23.20.101 255.255.255.255 inside

telnet timeout 10

Example proposed config:

telnet NET-Inside_10 255.0.0.0 inside

telnet object-group Support_TelecomTeam inside

telnet object-group Support_SecurityTeam inside

telnet object-group SNMP_Servers inside

telnet timeout 10

Please let me know if you have tried this with telnet as I do not have access to a lab PIX to test this option.

Thank you!

Jennifer

Cool idea but unfortunately, object-groups are only valid for use in access-lists.

Thanks Scott.

I think this would be a good suggestion for Cisco to expand the usage options for the object-groups. I'll pass it on to my rep.
