VoIP over remote VPN tunnels

Is it possible to create VPN tunnels to remote users that connect dial-up to different ISPs and have VoIP traffic in the tunnel? If this is possible, how will the encryption process affect the performance of the VoIP traffic if I use, for example, the G.723 codec that requires 6.3kbps? How does it scale?

Also, I currently have Cisco AS5300s and 3640s routers. Can I use these as the central device by purchasing an optional module/card or do I have to purchase another device?

Thank you,

Daniel Galvao

Re: VoIP over remote VPN tunnels

You can use the bandwidth calculator per call at the following URL. http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/788/pkt-voice-general/bwidth_consume.html. Add the encryption overhead to each call and plan the bandwidth or voice admission control accordingly.
