VPN 3000 v3.6.1 client - having many users complain of blue screen on win2k

We also have many users that are now complaining of recent installs of this version are getting win2k blue screen of death when trying to start the client after it's been installed. Any ideas?

Anyone know why v3.6.1 client isn't avail on cco any longer?

Re: VPN 3000 v3.6.1 client - having many users complain of blue

Hi,

CSCdy69001

1. Run a version of the client that has a fix for this problem. This was

fixed in 3.6.3 and higher versions of the Cisco VPN Client.

2. This blue screen only happens if we run across a DDNS packet that

says that the DNS server does not implement DDNS. If the client machine

does not send out DDNS packet in first place, this crash would not occur.

To disable DDNS on a windows machine:

i) Go to Network Connections property pages

(Control Panel > Network Connections).

ii) Select the adapter (or connection in windows terminology), right click

and go to specific adapter's property page.

iii) Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties button.

iv) This would bring the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) propterty page.

Click the "Advanced" button.

v) This would take you to "Advanced TCP/IP Settings" page. Go to

DNS tab.

vi) At the end of this page you will see

"Register this connection's addresses in DNS" checkbox. If this box

is selected, uncheck it. The windows machine should not send out

the DDNS packet if this box is NOT selected.

Let us know if that helps, if it doesn't, its a different bug.

Thx

Afaq
